Dear Y'all,

WOW! Thanks to all the Cutie Pies at Simon & Schuster for a great month on the road!

To All of You Queens Out There—Thanks so so SO much for all your support on this book tour! It was wonderful to get the chance to meet and play with so many of you. The dogs were sorry they didn’t get to meet you—but they reeeally enjoyed all their suck-up gifts! Sostie and BD were, of course, perfectly well-behaved 100% of the time and Little Edie, AKA "Devil Dog", did amazingly well—there was just that one night in DC when she shredded that red wig all over the bus....

I'm still unpacking all of MY suck-up gifts—and any of you who’ve ever been to my HOUSE, know that they will be proudly displayed for all to enjoy. More IS More, after all.

Kyle and I appreciated—and ATE—all of the wonderful edible offerings y’all brought to us. You really can’t imagine how great it is to have REAL food on the road! Ok, I’ve got the PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE recipe and the RUM BALL recipe—but WHOEVER MADE THAT CHICKEN SALAD/CHEESE BALL COMBO THING—you need to be sending me THAT RECIPE—like NOW! What WAS that? I mean, besides good and GONE?

Had never heard of this yummy Sweet Tea-flavored vodka before—although BAILEY seemed to be quite familiar with it—at least she’s actually old enough to drink it now! Also, Kyle and I are REALLY enjoying the bottle of Tito's Handmade Vodka—that stuff is amazing...and it's made right here in the good ole U. S. of A.—in Austin, Texas, no less. Get you some! You'll be glad you did!

Can we just have a big rousing cheer for BAREFOOT WINE & BUBBLY??!!  The wines were delish and the Barefooters were Big Fun—and if you were not lucky enough to be at one of their sponsored events—fear not—they’ll be here at the PARADE again OR if you're lucky enough to live close to Hattiesburg, MS, come see me at Main Street Books tomorrow, Thursday, 5 February, from 5-7p and have some Barefoot with me!!!

We got “iced out” of Tulsa and Wichita—but get ready—I’ll be there SOON! I'll be in Wichita, KS, at Water Mark Books on Wednesday, 18 February—it's a BAREFOOT event—so come sip some—we have found that I am so MUCH more entertaining when y’all have had a ration of wine. Go figger. Then, I'll be in Tulsa, OK, at the Barnes & Noble on Thursday, 19 February—come on out to play!

After those events, I'm headed way, way south—all the way to West Palm Beach, Florida, as a matter of fact—where I’ll be speaking at the Junior League of the Palm Beaches' 11th Annual Woman Volunteer of the Year Luncheon on Monday, February 23, at The Ritz-Carlton!!! I’ll be expecting to see all you South Florida Queens there! Click HERE to read about it.

For those of you in my own backyard, I’ll be speaking at a fundraiser for THE WOMEN’S FUND of the COMMUNITY FOUNDATION of GREATER JACKSON on March 4. This event will showcase our brand new Convention Center as well as all the other fantastic things that are happening in our Downtown area. Each ticket includes lunch, lots of laughs, a copy of American Thighs, and plenty of BAREFOOT WINE—can’t beat that!

And THEN…it’s PARADE TIME! The weekend of March 21st will find Queens from all over the world cavorting with great joy and abandon in and around Jackson, Mississippi for Mal’s St. Paddy’s Parade and The Million Queen March™—you just GOTTA COME PLAY!

I’ve heard from a lot of you with questions about the WEEKEND PASSES—they are not available yet, we have a few details to work out and WE JUST GOT HOME FROM A MONTH ON THE ROAD—so hang on for a leetle bit longer and stay tuned.

As long as you have a way to get here and your ROOMS AT THE HILTON, that’s all you need at the moment. If you haven’t booked your Hilton rooms yet, HERE IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET ONE:  you must go to the FRIENDS page on the website and click on the “Hilton”—if you do that and it tells you “no rooms,” then e-mail me and I’ll help you find a place but do all that FIRST. CLICK HERE TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE SPQ™/HILTON PAGE!

Here are some FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS and you know how crabby it makes me when I write all this down and people don’t want to read it, they just want me to answer it especially and individually for them?  Do NOT be one of Those People!

Q:  What does the Weekend Pass include?

A:  Unlimited bus rides to and from all events and the Hilton, admission to the SPQ™ Ball with Kacey Jones and These Days featuring Jewel Bass, the Fat Mama’s Knock You Naked Margarita Party at The Everyday Gourmet, the AfterGlow at the Hilton, marching in the Parade (donation to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital), Post Parade SPQ™ BBQ at the Hilton with the Earth Angels and Kacey Jones, Jello Wrasslin’ at the Hilton and whatever other absolutely ridiculous things we can think of to do in keeping with the spirit of “ANYTHING for the CHILDREN!” (as it's all a benefit for Batson), Pearls and PJ’s™ with the Bouffants and Kacey Jones AND for the “gifted and talented” amongst us—karaoke (in a separate room)! Plus FREE BAREFOOT WINE AND BUBBLY AT THE HILTON aaaallll weekend long!

It will also include Whatever Other New Stuff We’re Able to Pull Off This Year and we’ll let you know about that stuff ASAP.

Q:  What is NOT included in the Weekend Pass?

A:  Admission to the BIG HAT LUNCH at BRAVO! Italian Restaurant on Friday and admission to the BATHROBE BRUNCH on Sunday at the Hilton. Those tickets are sold separately. Bravo! sells the luncheon tickets directly. We will take reservations for the Brunch online, along with the Weekend Passes—but none of that is available yet so don’t panic.

Q:  If I can't come for the whole weekend, can I buy a ticket to just one event?

A:  Yes—tickets ARE available AT THE DOOR for the SPQ™ BALL at HAL & MAL’S. This is the ONLY EVENT to which individual tickets are sold; they are only available at the door that night, on a space-limited basis. (If you bought a Weekend Pass, this is your ticket into the Ball.)

NOTE:  TO GET INTO THE HILTON HOTEL after Friday afternoon, YOU MUST EITHER HAVE A HILTON ROOM KEY OR A WEEKEND PASS and no individual tickets are sold to any of the events at the Hilton.

A:  Will my Passes be mailed to me?

Q:  NO!  N.O. They will NOT BE MAILED TO YOU—you will pick them up at the HILTON when you arrive and the schedule for that will be posted later on the website and will be in the next Newletter from me.

Q:  What do I wear to the Luncheon/Ball/Parade/Pearls and PJs/Bathrobe Brunch?

A:  Luncheon = a big hat; Ball = whatever you want to wear. There will be EVERYTHING from jeans to ballgowns; Parade = The fanciest, sparkliest, craziest thing you can think of—plus 20%; Pearls & PJs = Big jewelry and pajamas; Brunch = Your bathrobe.

ABOVE ALL, WEAR COMFY SHOES for everything... all the time.

Q:  What is the theme of the Parade?

A:  In honor of the revitalization efforts going on in Downtown Jackson, the official theme is “RECYCLE, RETHINK, REJOICE—DOWNTOWN.” We have certainly recycled enough green sequins and red hair over the years, we ought to qualify for some kind of “green tax credit.”

HOWEVER—you should know THIS—there will be an ACTUAL WEDDING—IN THE PARADE—ON OUR FLOAT—IN FRONT OF THE GOVERNOR’S MANSION with our very own QUEEN and ACTUAL REAL-LIFE JUDGE TAMMYCYNTHIA OFFICIATING! A couple from Sarasota, Florida, are coming up here to get hitched in the middle of the Million Queen March™; so, NOW IS THE TIME TO DRAG OUT ALL YOUR AWFUL BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES and perhaps “improve” them with some sequins, rhinestones and feathers! We’d like to set a world record for the Most Bridesmaids Ever at a Wedding—and surely a MILLION will be enough to do that? Can you say, "Guinness"?

THE OFFICIAL RULES for the Parade are posted at www.halandmals.com—go read them! THESE ARE NOT OUR RULES—WE ARE PARTICIPANTS IN THE PARADE JUST LIKE YOU!  But no, you can’t throw candy or condoms and you can’t ride your motorcycle in the Parade.

See you SOOOON, my hunnies!
