"Randy and the Mob"

Dear Y'all,

I’m pretty sure we all survived the Big Move—haven’t found any bodies in the baggage yet—but we are slap wore-out, that’s for sure!  Many, MANY thanks to all who participated in our Big Ass Yard Sale—including the person or persons unknown who took the Big Ass SPQ™ Umbrellas out of the trash—BOTH times!  We have no earthly idea what you plan to do with four gigantic green umbrellas covered in hot pink flowers and sequins—and we don’t really care—we were just glad to have ‘em hauled away and I know our Garbage Personnel share our joy.

The SPQ STORE is finally back up and operational and thanks to everybody who found that out on their own and commenced shopping!

BOOK TOUR ’08 in support of The Sweet Potato Queens’ Guide to Raising Children for Fun and Profit is being plotted at this very moment—we’ll post the schedule just the second we have the final version.  The Cutest Boy in the World and I WILL be out in THE BIG ASS BUS again for the first half of the tour and then I’ll be flying for the second half.  We figger this way, by the end of it, maybe we’ll both be only half-dead which will be a mercy, although admittedly a small one.

Our friends at Capricorn Pictures have asked us to tell y’all about their new (very funny) movie—RANDY AND THE MOB.  Now, Capricorn Pictures is the off-spring of Capricorn Music, who brought us Otis Redding, Delbert McClinton, The Allman Brothers, Widespread Panic and a host of others—so we kinda already trust ‘em with our Entertainment Needs.

RANDY AND THE MOB had us HOWLING from the get-go so when it comes near you—GET UP AND GO see it, pronto! Check out some photos from the Perimer and After Party in Hotlanta!

Here’s a quick run-down of the cast:

Ok, you saw “O Brother Where Art Thou?”, right?  The guy who played the “Bona fide Suitor” is Ray McKinnon and he plays “Randy.”

I know you watch “The Shield”—that really cute young guy with the reeeeally Big Smile—that’s Walton Goggins and he plays “Tino Armani,” a hillbilly mafia guy.

Who HASN’T watched “An Office and a Gentleman” at least 8,000 times?  Debra Winger’s best friend who wanted to marry an Aviator?  That’s Lisa Blount and she plays Randy’s Baton-Twirling Wife.

Here’s a schedule of OPENING DATES around the South—and you folks in Nashville and Little Rock, take note that RAY MCKINNON WILL BE THERE to meet and greet y’all at those events!  Be sure to tell him you’re a Queen and give him a squeeze from me, too!

Since they have realized that they are all Queens/Spud Studs— “Randy” and most of his “Mob” are planning on being at the Parade in March—and we think they’re gonna fit RIGHT IN!
